This is a drop-in replacement for Quake's knight.mdl, one of the more poorly
made monster models in the game. It was created with the intent of providing
a model that matches the higher-quality original Quake content (like the Hell
Knight) without exceeding it - in short, to provide the model id would have
wanted to provide at the time. The model has 376 faces over the original's
213, which is nearly twice as many but still well within the limits of stock
Quake and the capabilities of modern computers.

All animations have been redone from the ground up, to match the per-frame
movement of the knight bounding box in all of the preexisting AI motions and
sequences, so that no new or altered .QC code is necessary. This knight should
behave just like the old one, with less sliding of the feet and popping around,
and look better doing it.

h_knight.mdl was also updated and included for consistency.

--- INSTALLATION --------------------------------------------------------------

It's perfectly safe to use the replacement in your /id1/ folder. Copy the
included PAK2.PAK into /id1/ and the old knight will forever be replaced with
the new, with no side effects. If you already have a PAK2 for some reason,
just rename the included file with whatever is the next highest PAK number
available in your /id1/ folder. Doing so will propagate the new knight to any
single player mods as well, provided those mods don't have their own local
overriding knight.mdl.

--- PERMISSIONS ---------------------------------------------------------------

You are free to include this model in any future non-commercial Quake releases
you may make, altered or unaltered. It contains three extra skins sourced from
popular Quake mods (Quoth, Roman Wilderness of Pain, etc), in case you prefer
any of those. If you do, you can easily modify the .mdl in any editing program
to cycle the skin you desire up to the primary slot, or select the skin in game
code using a modified progs.dat.
